Jesse Alvarado, a sophomore at Mt. San Antonio College, won the men's 4-mile title in 19:51.2 at the California Community College Athletic Association state cross country final at Woodward Park in Fresno. Alvarado, who became the fourth individual champion in program history, joined Daniel Abdala (2021), Manny Fernandez (2017) and Ozzie Pina (2002) in winning for the Mounties, who also prevailed against San Diego Mesa by a 59-62 margin to capture the team title. Alvarado also eclipsed the record on the new 4-mile layout at Woodward Park, set last season by Abdala with his 19:52.4 effort. Noureddine Morceli of Riverside Community College ran the fastest time on the previous 4-mile layout at Woodward Park by clocking 18:48 in 1989, before the new course was adopted in 1995.
